APPROVAL OF THE SKY ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL APPLICATION GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FOR THE SKY ACADEMY/RAE-CHOICE
Description
COMPETITIVE: Grant funds of $325,000 will be used for start up costs for a new Charter School. The mission of the new Charter School is to increase student achievement of middle school students through a blending of physical activity, wellness concept and rigor. This will include salaries for administrative and clerical staff to meet with parents and hire staff. In addition, salary dollars will be used to appropriately register students into the district system. Recruitment activity, teacher preparation, purchase of equipment and supplies and preparation of instructional materials will be included.
Recommendation
That the School Board of Sarasota County approve the SKY Academy Charter School application grant proposal.
